What is Corrugated Metal?
Galvanized and Galvalume corrugated metal sheet, are tough, lightweight, and weather-resistant materials that provide advanced protection qualities that cannot be matched by any other type of material. Corrugated steel sheet and panel products are among the most popular siding options on the market due to their excellent durability and easy maintenance requirements, providing beneficial results for various applications.
What are Galvalume and Galvanized Corrugated Metal Used For?
Corrugated sheet metal and panels are manufactured through a cold-form process where they are pressed and roll-formed to create the desired corrugated shape. The steel grooves increase the tensile strength, making it resistant to increased impact and weight loads. The steel’s corrugated configuration provides one of the highest strength-to-weight ratios of any construction material. Standard applications include:
1, Roofing
2. Metal siding
3, Paneling
4, Decorative screens
5, Fencing
Is Corrugated Metal Used for Roofing Applications?
Corrugated metal roofing products are designed to withstand all elemental and environmental conditions, including hail, snow, heat, wind, fire, and more. The traditional shape of corrugated sheet metal is round and wavy. It is low-cost, lightweight, durable, energy-efficient, long-lasting, and easy to install. Due to its enhanced durability and aesthetics, corrugated metal roofing has become increasingly popular over conventional roofing materials such as asphalt shingles and clay tile.
Galvalume vs. Galvanized Corrugated Panels
The main factor that differentiates Galvalume and Galvanized corrugated metal sheet lies in the material chemistry of each finish. Galvalume corrugated metal finish is manufactured from a 55% aluminum and 45% zinc coating substrate, making it lighter and more energy efficient than galvanized paneling. When combined with silicon, the aluminum-zinc galvalume finish bonds effectively to the steel substrate allowing for equal adhesion throughout the steel.
Conversely, a galvanized corrugated metal finish is composed of 100% zinc. Compared with galvalume, galvanized zinc provides increased edge and scratch protection while significantly reducing costs. However, galvalume provides more complex coverage and better overall corrosion resistance.
What are the Corrugated Metal Sheet and Panel Options?
Industrial Metal Supply offers corrugated metal panels in several pattern types, including 1/2”, 7/8”, AG, and more. Additional Corrugated Metal Panel options include:
1, Galvalume
2, Galvanized
3, Painted green
4, Purlin
5, Weathering
6, Perforated aluminum
What are the Advantages of Corrugated Metal Sheet and Panel Products?
Galvanized and Galvalume corrugated sheet products, are among the most popular siding options on the market due to their excellent durability and easy maintenance requirements. Corrugated metal sheet and panel products deliver an overall low-lifetime cost investment, making them ideal for many interior and exterior projects, depending on the need. Utilizing advanced quality corrugated steel sheet and panel provides decades of enhanced protection from the elements. Additional corrugated metal sheet advantages include:
1, High strength-to-weight ratio
2, Low maintenance
3, Lightweight
4, Versatile
5, Easy to work with
6,Corrosion-resistant galvanized finish
